WordPress Wish List…

As you may have already guessed i am using wordpress to host my website, and so far it’s doing a magnificent job. But as i have been updating my website i have begun to find things which for every other blog host would be totally free which wordpress would and has been making me and most likely millions more pay for. Yes if you have a server things such as Google Adsense can be added with addons which may people do, but…. If you don’t have one there are things like that which you cant add which is really quite a blow. In some incidences even if you have a server there are things you cant add. For example i tried to add in Google Analytics which needs you to add a small amount of code into your template which with any other blog hoster would be as they say “Easy as pie” but WordPress makes you pay. Don’t get the wrong idea about this post, I love WordPress and it is by far my most favorite blog host but with almost anything there is always room for improvement.

I have in the past used Google Adsense in places such as my blog, and yes i have made a few dollars each week or even month. Window’s 7 Possible Success

Im sure many of you took the chance of being able to try the new window’s 7 beta for few limit but enjoyable months. I think windows may finally of got it right this time, Yes the driver support was a little i-fee but things like that can be suspected with a beta. Further more to many people’s surprise the system requirements were shockingly low and the speed of window’s 7 was tremendous. On the other hand there are some part’s which may worry people which couldn’t be seen in the beta, for example virus support, window’s is known for getting viruses easily will they have helped or hindered this with the new release? I guess will we all have to wait for the final product. Fingers crossed it’s good.

What’s The Point of The Sales?

Don’t jump to a conclusion, read on! I though it would be nice to go do a little spot of shopping after Christmas, maybe pick up a few bargains on some dvds or gadgets. I After many hours of battling though crowds you would get to your shop. In my case a HMV. You see all the giant SALE NOW ON! posters in the shop video, surely there must be some good deals in here. After yet another few hours of battling the crowds you finally get to a item you want (A dvd in my case here) Only to look at the price tag to see, Was 60 now only 50! Don’t get me wrong sales are good and any money saved is even better. Yes alright it is a little cheaper but just think whats the point? i could go home go on something like play.com and get it ten times as cheap as the sale price even without the battling and stress of the crowds. No wonder you hear about so many shops going down the pan, Go online! Problem solved!

Geekabyte Is Expanding!

As you can already most likely tell there isn’t much. We are still very new but there are of course plan’s for the future of Geekabyte.co.uk. To start with the website is going to be built up a bit, get a few more pages and some more content. After that i do have some plans to open a online radio station which would be open a few hours each day playing non-stop music, using a service called radionomy which looks very promising. Outside of the website im going to make some account’s for the website on place’s such as twitter and geek’s.pirillo, to spread the word of geekabyte to geek’s worldwide! Along with that I’m trying to look for some sponsor’s, so far i do have a few which are strongly considering becoming our sponsor. Apart from that there is nothing else really, though everyone would want to know what we are up to.

PC or Mac? – Xbox 360 Or PS3?

Which ones do you use? You get it so much today, PC vs Mac and 360 vs PS, there’s technology wars going on left right and centre! The was usually goes onto Youtube making video’s on why the other one suck’s. Even the companies do it, even though you have to admit the apple video’s are quite funny. But anyway personally I’m a mac and 360 fan which work’s really liking one from each company. Which ones do you like? PC or Mac, 360 or PS3?

Virus Software?

If your running a type of linux or a mac you most likely don’t have or need any virus software. Window’s on the other hand, You kind of don’t have a choice really. But when you do get your antivirus software which on do you get? There’s the main two symantec and Mcafee. Alot of people i hear use symantec or norton’s but also say that it’s slow doesn’t get rid of quite some amount of virues and is generally not worth your yearly fee. Mcafee, on the other hand yes is not perfect but is well worth the alot less money you pay for it. It come’s with way more features 12 to be precise, and there is no yearly fee to pay just when you buy the CD from the shop which will be at most 35-40 pounds, although many people complain it’s just as slow or even slower than symantec’s products . But are these the only two? There’s many out there not all legitimate but there are still some out there. Things like clamwin the free firewall software, suggested by many geek’s and its open source! Or there’s comodo which is another great firewall which is free and was rated the best along with all the brand names to be the best system monitor. Are the brand name anti-virus software the only and correct answer?
